Title: Robert W. Knechtel fonds

Biographical Sketch: Robert Knechtel was born
in Ontario. After graduating in medicine, he married and he and
his wife, Isabel, moved to Winnipeg in 1897. He left the practice
of medicine and began farming north-east of Souris, Manitoba in
1916. During that time, and after returning to Winnipeg in 1936,
Dr. Knechtel attempted to breed improved varieties of wheat. Dr.
Knechtel died in 1942.
Scope and Content: The fonds consists of one diary
recording planting schemes, and newspaper clippings in the interest
of grain.
