Title: Dr. Simon Jauvoish fonds

Dates: 1917-1939

Extent: 7 cm of textual records

Biographical Sketch: Dr. Simon Jauvoish was a Private in the 196th Western Canadian Universities Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force. In 1917 he was in Seaford, Sussex, England. The predominant themes in his writing reflect his experiences of the First World War. Jauvoish completed his first year as a student of medicine at the University of Manitoba in the 1919-1920 school year. The addresses on his typescripts indicate that he resided both in La Riviere and Winnipeg, Manitoba. He became a physician and surgeon and was practicing up to the 1950s.

Scope and Content: Fonds consists of typescripts including the following poems: "The Sun Racer" (1917), and a series of five poems; short stories: "Flooded", "N'GAH Wept", "The Race", and "The Ewe"; a five act play, Caedmon (1939); and a manuscript entitled Peace Out of Pain (Vimy Ridge Sketches).
