Title: Allan Drysdale fonds (Wattsview Community History).

Dates: 1966-1967.

Extent: 0.01 m of textual records. -- 1 audio reel.

Biographical sketch: Allan Drysdale is a resident of Neepawa, Manitoba and a reporter for the Neepawa Banner. Wattsview is a farming district located in the municipalities of Birtle and Ellice in western Manitoba. The region was named after farmer Will Watt, a pioneer who had owned land in the area.

Custodial history: This material was purchased by Allan Drysdale at an auction sale. He donated the fonds to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1996.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of a booklet titled Wandering in Wattsview, Wattsview History 1879-1967. The book contains maps, biographical information, general history of the community, family histories and photographs. It was put together and published by the Wattsview Centennial Club Committee. The fonds also includes an audio tape of the reminiscences of Mrs. Butcher, who was a resident of Wattsview. It was recorded by her son, John Butcher on December 26, 1966. The recording also contains information about Fort Ellice. The audio tape is located at TC 82.
