Title: Canadian Wheat Board fonds.
Dates: 1919-1921.

Administrative history: The Canadian Wheat Board
was created in 1919, as a result of the need to secure a price for
Canadian Wheat in domestic and international markets. During the
war years the prices for Canadian wheat had been fixed. James Stewart,
appointed commissioner of the Wheat Board, secured an optimum price
for wheat on behalf of Canadian farmers.
Custodial history: The contents of the fonds were
passed from commissioner James Stewart to his son Ewen, whose children
presented it to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections
in memory of their father and grandfather.
Scope and content: The fonds consists of copies
of minutes, various certificates, one minute book containing signed
Board minutes, and one minute book containing signed Executive Committee
minutes.
