Biographical sketch: Dr. E. Mary Kinnear is a professor of History at the University of Manitoba and is a former head of the department. She has written numerous articles for the Manitoba Historical Society and published books on Women's History including Woman of the World: Mary McGeachy and International Cooperation (Toronto: University of Toronto Press, 2004), Female Economy: Women's Work in a Prairie Province 1870-1970 (Montreal and Kingston: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1998), and In Subordination: Professional Women, 1870-1970 (Montreal and Kingston: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1995). Her books place a particular emphasis on women in Manitoba.

Custodial history: The fonds was donated to Archives & Special Collections in 2005 by Dr. Mary Kinnear.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of textual material and 82 micro-cassette tapes featuring interviews conducted by Dr. Mary Kinnear with women professionals in Manitoba as research for her books In Subordination: Professional Women, 1870-1970 and A Female Economy: Women's Work in a Prairie Province, 1870-1970.
