Title: CKY Radio (Winnipeg, Manitoba) fonds.

Dates: 1940-1949.

Extent: 0.44 m of textual records.

Administrative history: The Manitoba Telephone System was authorized to operate CKY in 1923. The first program was broadcast on March 13, 1923. The final time slot on Tuesday evening was occupied by University Hour, which was a series of lectures presented by university professors. It quickly became one of its most popular shows. University on the Air was produced on the CKY radio station during the 1940's. Professors from various departments of the University of Manitoba presented lectures on a wide variety of topics. Topics included agriculture, science, war and women's interests.

Scope and content: The fonds consists of printed transcripts of university related programming on CKY Radio.
