FAQ's
Q. What does it mean when a title is INPROCESS?
A. Books shipped from OCLC to Acquisitions are assigned a current location of INPROCESS. These titles are in the final stages of processing through Technical Services. If a title with the location INPROCESS is required, please contact Jennifer Glass [474-9781] or Pat Paige [474-9412] or send an email to acqdaf@cc.umanitoba.ca The requested item will be located and processed as soon as possible.
Q. How do I check the status of an order?
A. Use the Item Search & Display in Workflows to search the title. Titles with an INPROCESS location are located in the Technical Services area waiting for final processing. You may click on the Orders tab to see if an item has been received through the Acquisitions Department. Titles displaying an XX call number with the On Order message are still outstanding. Questions concerning the current status of these orders may be directed to the Supervisor, Acquisitions @ 474-9965.
Q. How important is the Ordering Calendar?
A. The Ordering Calendar is a very important guideline tool for bibliographers who submit firm orders to Acquisitions. The Acquisitions Ordering Calendar represents general benchmark dates for bibliographers to use when determining how many firm order requests to submit weekly or monthly to Acquisitions.
Q. What is the difference between Free Balance and Cash Balance on a Sirsi Fund ID?
A. Cash Balance = Budgeted minus Paid
Free Balance = Budgeted minus [Paid + Encumbered + Invoiced]
Q. What is the best way to search for an "on order" title in Workflows?
A. You must search for an "on order" title by using the "Title" index & "Keyword" type. A brief bibliographic record is created for each title that is ordered, however, the brief records are not fully indexed in Workflows. This means that the search options are limited to Title / Keyword only.
Q. Who should I contact if I have a question/problem with serial holdings?
A. Contact John Hatfield, Acquisitions, either through email or interdepartmental mail and include specific bibliographic information (Title, ISSN) and volume/issue, barcode information if applicable. If the item is still "In Transit", discharge the item before requesting changes.

If the claim is still current the 'Date Expected' column will have a date. If a claim was unsuccessful the 'Date Expected' column will be: NEVER. If you have a question about a new or previously claimed issue, contact: Cheri Taylor @ 474-6373 or John Hatfield @ 474-8235.
Q. What does the note: "Last predicted issue..." in the Serial Control mean?
