Reserve items held behind the circulation desk include printed books and journal articles, sample tests, software, et cetera. Reserves are course-related materials expected to be in high demand. Only students, faculty, and staff of the University of Manitoba and affiliated professionals may borrow reserve items. At the request of the instructor, most reserve items go out on short-term loan periods as follows:
2-Hour Loan Period - Due 2 hours after the time taken out.
1-Day Loan Period - Due the next day by closing time.
3-Day Loan Period - Due after 3 days by closing time.
Confirm the loan period at the time of borrowing. You may borrow a maximum of four reserve items. You may not renew or place requests on reserve items.
You can search for reserve items in the Library Catalogue either by course number or instructor's name. After you find the reserve item in the Library Catalogue, present the call number to the staff at the circulation desk to take out the item.
Reserve items must be returned to the circulation desk from which you borrowed them.
Faculty can place items on reserve by using the Online Reserve Request Form. This form sends your request to the unit libraries by email. For assistance with this form read the Guidelines for Instructors.
