Duplication of copyrighted material is governed by the Copyright Act, R.S.C. 1985, c. C-42. Materials are further governed by the University of Manitoba's Fair Dealing Guidelines. In accordance with the Guidelines, reserve copies are made from lawfully acquired materials and are made as an optional and supplementary source of information for students and must be no more than 25 percent of the required reading for the course.
Audio/video cassette tapes, CD's, and DVD's will only be placed on reserve if the submitter is authorized to do so (i.e., is the owner of the item and is not submitting an unauthorized copy of the material).
The Libraries can only accept one paper copy for each 30 students in a course of instruction up to a maximum of 3. All paper and electronic copies will be destroyed at the end of the Term of Reserve as per the Fair Dealing Guidelines.
