AuroraThe University's implementation of the SungardSCT Banner system to handle the administration of student and financial data. Access is via a web interface and is restricted to select administrative personnel in each department.
JUMPWeb portal for students to access email, a personal calendar, course schedules and other tools and personalized UofM information. Also available to all employees. Instructors can post course information for students in their classes. Requires the UMnetID obtained via 'claimid'.
LinuxIST's Linux involvement is small but growing. A pilot project is underway consisting of several Linux workstations in the student labs alongside the Unix Solaris and Microsoft Windows stations. Access is open to all students and staff via the UMnetID obtained in 'claimid'.
NovellIST runs two Novell Netware file storage and software systems that serve Microsoft Windows desktop computers in offices and labs physically located on the the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses.
- CNS, the Corporate Netware System, is for use by employees on the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. A CNS userid is obtained through 'claimid'. Permission to use is granted by each department.
- INS, the Instructional Netware System, is for use in IST's campus computer labs. Course software and materials can be installed by instructor request. All students and staff can claim an INS account via 'claimid' without need of further permission.
Unix
'CCU' is the general purpose Unix system available to all students and staff for file storage, email, and software. Users login with the UMnetID obtained through 'claimid'. The University's primary Unix operating system is Sun Solaris, used for CCU and other UNIX systems listed here.
