Interactive videoconferencing is a cost-effective tool that allows face-to-face interaction and can be used for collaborative meeting and distance education environments. The University of Manitoba has videoconferencing sites located at the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. The technology is designed to support two-way video and audio communication between two sites or between multiple locations at reasonable and competitive rates.

There are lots of uses for videoconferencing, including:
