Cathodoluminescence microscope
Cathodoluminescence microscope
A Nikon petrographic microscope provides the base for a Technosyn cold-cathodoluminescence unit. Samples may be prepared as polished thin sections, polished grain mounts, or polished slabs. In this form, the samples are also ready for subsequent electron microprobe or SEM analysis after coating. Cathodoluminescence can provide a visual record of trace and minor element variations within minerals. Cathodoluminescence images may be collected using a 35 mm camera system or they may be collected by a high-resolution black and white TV camera and transferred to the IBAS.
