![]() Return to Gemology Most classical cuts have a well-defined crown (upper part) truncated by a table facet (horizontal on this image) and a pavilion (lower part) that may or may not be truncated by a culet (tiny facet on the pavilion side parallel to the table). The crown and pavilion are separated by a girdle that may or may not be faceted. The crown is a receiver - that is where most of the incident light is entering the gem; the pavilion is an internal light reflector. |
