Kids’ Corner

Hi kids! Start by printing or downloading the drawings of a Cretaceous dinosaur (Gorgosaurus), turtle (Archelon), fish (Xiphactinus), and mosasaur (Platecarpus). Which one’s your favourite?

For each creature, the drawing shows how it may have looked when it was alive. Colour the drawing. No one knows what colours these ancient animals were, so you can get ideas by looking at modern reptiles and fish. Try adding a background to your picture, showing the animal in its environment during Cretaceous time. Did it live on land or in the sea? What did it eat? Was it hunting or being hunted?
