What is SWSA?
The Social Work Students’ Association (SWSA) represents and advocates on behalf of students who are currently enrolled in the Undergraduate Faculty of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. SWSA has members who regularly attend and participate in Senate, Faculty Council and UMSU meetings acting as representatives of the Social Work student body. In addition, SWSA acts as a liason between the university community, the faculty and Social Work students, advising students of matters that may be of importance to them and advocating on behalf of the interests of Social Work students in all capacities. SWSA meets once a month to discuss current affairs and plan events throughout the year that aim to support and encourage community building among Social Work students and the larger university community.
Our office is located on the 5th floor of the Tier building in room 506. Please email us at email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
Our Main Events and Initiatives:
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
• Koats for Kids Drive
• Food Collection for Christmas Hampers
• Knowledge Sharing Series (To allow students to meet and discuss their experiences and knowledge with other Social Work students)
Why Should You Join?
SWSA members have the opportunity to be positively involved in the student community, meet new people through the planning of events and participation in campus activities, and receive a co-curricular record that indicates their involvement on SWSA.
