My work commonly applies geochemical tools to biological or in some cases geochemical problems in freshwater research. Recently I have worked on fluxes of carbon dioxide and methane from lakes and rivers. This work has been combined with estimates of carbon budgets in Canadian Shield lakes. Other work has involved the application of stable isotope analyses to understanding aquatic food chains and pathways of trace metals in lakes.
