HELP
FIGHT ARTHRITIS
Virtually
everyone knows someone with arthritis. Did you know that over
4 million Canadians have their quality of life compromised
by arthritis and that over 2000 of them die each year from Arthritis
related complications? That’s bad news!
Thankfully,
it is entirely realistic to expect that medical research can develop
better treatments and eventually even, a cure for this disease.
The major roadblock is research funding. The Arthritis Society wants
to help but receives no government funding. It relies on fundraising
events such as “Joints in Motion” marathons, where participants
raise financial support for Arthritis research.
The
MARATHONS ON ICE EXPEDITION is a 26-day,
350-mile expedition on Lake Winnipeg in central
Manitoba. That is a “marathon of days” (1 day for each mile in a
marathon) hopefully covering a half-marathon each day. A goal has
been set of raising $10,000 for the
“Joints in Motion” program.
