27 - Fifth-year senior Mike
Reimer of the University of Manitoba Bisons has been named the
Canada West Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending October
27, 2002.
The
5’8”, 180 pound native of Swift Current, SK scored three
times in Manitoba’s two-game sweep of the visiting UBC Thunderbirds
on Friday-Saturday, October 25th-26th. Two of the right winger’s
three goals proved to be the deciding goal as Reimer netted the
game-winning goal in both victories over UBC.
The
Human Ecology student netted the winner at 9:18 of the third period
in Friday’s 2-1 victory and then scored the decisive goal
in Saturday’s 6-0 win.
Reimer
has now scored each of Manitoba’s three game-winning goals
this season and leads the conference in that offensive category.
He finished the weekend series with three goals and an assist and
is second on the Bisons’ scoring list with 4-1-5 in six Canada
West Hockey games.
For
his efforts Reimer was also named the Canada West Male Athlete of
the week. |
