17 - The CIS Eligibility Committee today ruled that standout Bison
Football slotback Mike Faisthuber will not be charged with a year
of eligibility for this past season.
Faisthuber's
season ended early in game two in Calgary when he broke his fibula
and came only 8 months after the native of Kamloops, BC was hospitalized
with a kidney ailment that forced him to miss the Bisons run to
the Vanier Cup in 2001.
The
favorite target of Bison quarterback of Shane Munson will now have
a chance to add to his growing list of Bison team records next season.
The 6'1" 200-lb graduate of the Okanagan Sun already owns Bison
records for the longest TD reception (96 yards), TD receptions in
a season (7), and career TD receptions (17).
In
2003, he will have a chance to eclipse the record for most career
receiving yards and most career receptions both of which are held
by former Bison great Terry Fach. Faisthuber hauled in seven receptions
for 87 yards in 2002, and will start next season needing 47 receptions
and 422 yards to break Fach's marks of 150 career receptions and
2,039 yards that were set from 1980-1984.
