28 - The Bison Men's Volleyball team continued to reap rewards yesterday
as three players earned CIS recognition.
Setter
Mike Munday led the way with a First Team All-Canadian award
after being named to the second team last season. Munday took a
leadership role this year after the loss of CIS Player of the Year,
Bryan Enns, and Canadian National Team member, Dan Lewis. Munday
served up an incredible 28 aces in league play and 52 overall and
is looking to bring home his second consecutive CIS title and third
consecutive for the Bisons.
Middle
blocker Peter Turpin stuffed his way onto the Second Team
All-Canadian squad. Turpin added 102 blocks to his career Bison
total of 610 (11th all time in Bison history) and also led the league
with a kill efficiency of 42.2%. Turpin combined with Dave Teixeira
and Munday for 184 blocks on the season.
Bison
rookie Josh Klassen was named to the CIS All-Rookie Team.
Klassen who stands just 6'2'' placed third on a deep Bison squad
with 146 kills which was good for 12th in the league at 2.28 per
game. Klassen won a Bronze Medal with the Manitoba Summer Games
team last summer and is looking to help the Bisons to another CIS
title.
