March
31 - Last night at the annual Bison Black and Gold dinner honouring
the best of Bison Sports, two volleyball players took home the Bison
female and male athlete of the Year awards. This marks the second
year in a row that two volleyball players have taken home top honours.
Kathy Hrehirchuk is a first time winner of the top female athlete
award while Bryan Enns is a repeat winner of the award, the first
Bison male athlete to do so since Terry Ball in 1967-68 and 1968-69.
Both players had seasons most athletes at this level only dream
about, winning virtually every individual award available at a conference
and National level and both playing vital roles in winning National
Championships.
It was a great year for Bison teams, athletes and coaches with 19
athletes being named All-Canadians, four coaches winning conference
coach of the year awards. two teams winning National Championships,
and 10 teams finishing the season in the top 10 in the National
Rankings.
