Message from the Associate Dean, Graduate Programs 

University graduate programs in nursing must respond to high-paced change and the exponential increase in knowledge to successfully meet the demands of society and nursing practice. In keeping with the aims of graduate study at the University of Manitoba, the graduate programs in the College of Nursing will prepare nurses with advanced or specialized knowledge for leadership in diverse areas of nursing practice.

Masters in Nursing

There are four streams in the program: Administration, Clinical, Education, and Nurse Practitioner. Emphasis is placed on developing ability to analyze, critique, and use research and theory to further nursing practice" (CASN, 2006, p. 1). The graduate program is designed to prepare graduates for leadership roles in practice, education and administration. 

NOTE: The Nurse Practitioner Stream in the Masters of Nursing program is available for part-time studies beginning the fall of 2016.

Application deadline to the Masters program is March 1; Application deadline for international applicants is November 1.

Doctoral Programs

The purpose of doctoral programs in the College of Nursing is to promote the development of outstanding scholars who will engage in programs of research that will positively influence the health and health care of populations.

Application deadline to the Doctoral program is March 1; Application deadline for international applicants is November 1.


 

Information for International Applicants to the College of Nursing Graduate Programs

The College of Nursing at the University of Manitoba welcomes applications from applicants who have been educated outside of Canada and the United States.

Prospective internationally educated applicants are advised to refer to the information that is specific to international applicants, as well as the general information, program information, and admission requirements for all applicants.
