Musical Theatre

Students aged 7-18 will sing, dance, act, and have fun in a creative & supportive environment that encourages exploration & imagination.  Students will develop skills in stage movement, choreography, characterization, singing, harmonization, and more!

There will be two classes for ages 7 - 12 and ages 13 - 18.  A minimum enrolment of 6 students per class is required.  If the minimum enrolment is not met, the classes will be combined.

The classes will be held in the new choral/musical theatre room located in the addition to the Tache building on Thursday evenings.

Class Activities will include:

- Vocal warm ups
- Improvisation
- Ensemble work
- Choreography
- Acting & movement games and exercises

FALL SESSION

Class dates:               Thursdays, September 13, 2018 - November 29, 2018

Class information:     12 classes of 90 minutes in length

Class times:               Ages 7 - 12      5:45pm - 7:15pm

                                  Ages 13 - 18    7:30pm - 9:00pm

Class fee: $375.00

Registration Deadline: Tuesday, September 4, 2018

WINTER SESSION

Class dates:                Thursdays, January 17, 2019 - April 11, 2019

Class information:      12 classes of 90 minutes in length

Laura KolisnykAbout the Instructor:  Laura Kolisnyk is a Winnipeg based performer, choreographer, director and educator.  An honours graduate of the University of Winnipeg theatre department she has performed locally and internationally.  Specializing in theatre for young audiences, she spent ten years with Koba Entertainment.  Most notable credits with the company include Max and Ruby, performed on Broadway, Caillou, performed in Korea and the United Arab Emirates, and Franklin performed in France! In Winnipeg she has performed with Rainbow Stage and The Winnipeg Jewish Theatre and has written, produced and performed shows for the Winnipeg Fringe Festival. Her favourite being, Ordinary May’s Extraodinary ways, a play for kids about self worth and acceptance. Laura has voices many cartoon characters for Dacapo Productions and was the voice director on Balloopoo. She is the singer/front person for the funkiest kids band in Winnipeg, The Fun-Key Ducks. When Laura is not on stage she is sharing her passion for performing arts and yoga. As an educator she has over twenty years experience, having taught dance, musical theatre, drama and kids yoga at many schools and studios in Winnipeg.
