Brendan Thompson graduated with his Bachelor of Music (Percussion Performance) degree from the University of Manitoba, and earned his Master of Music (Percussion Performance) degree from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN. He frequently performs with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, including his role as the Acting Principal Timpanist for the 2014/15 season. In addition, Brendan is the current Musician-in-Residence at Charleswood United Church. Also an avid sports fan, he performs on game days with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Drumline. Brendan regularly plays for musical theatre productions and with choral groups throughout the city. In one of his more recent projects, Brendan was the pit percussionist for Rainbow Stage’s 2015 production of Les Misérables.
With a strong interest in music education, Brendan is active as a clinician and educator throughout Manitoba. He currently teaches as a sessional instructor at both the University of Manitoba and the Canadian Mennonite University. When he is not performing or teaching in the city, Brendan enjoys getting away and spending time at the lake.
