ELECTRO ACOUSTIC MUSIC WITH VIDEO PROJECTION
On November 9, 2011 the American composer Bill Brunson visited Studio FLAT and gave a mid-day recital with Electroacoustic Music and video projection. Two of Brunson's "Bildspiel" compositions (or as the German term would be translated into English: "programme-controlled multiple slide projection synchronized with music on tape") were performed at the well-attended concert. Professor Brunson also gave two seminars on his own music and the Text-Sound tradition in Electroacoustic Music during his visit.
Professor Brunson's visit was a joint project between the Marcel A.Desautels Faculty of Music and the GroundSwell New Music Series.
We had a full house at the Studio FLAT concert on January 14.
We needed 2 hours to setup the loudspeaker system: The 8 Genelec 1032 speakers and the subwoofer were all used.
Seven new compositions were premiered. Two compositions were composed for 8 speakers. The other 5 compositions were stereo compositions that were diffused over the system at the concert. The pieces were composed by Graham Isaak, Troy Jasper, Max Ripley, David Storen, Ilkim Tongur, Alex Tyborowski and Steven Webb.
