Derek Fewer, BSc, MD, CM, FRCSC
In July 1976 Dr. Fewer joined the Active Staff of the Section of Neurosurgery of the Health Sciences Centre and joined the University Section of Neurosurgery in June 1987 as Assistant Professor. 

Dr. Fewer received his pre-medical training at Loyola College of Montreal, receiving his BSc (Cum Laude).  He then entered McGill University where he received his MD, CM in 1966.  Dr. Fewer then underwent a rotating internship and surgical residency at the Royal Victoria Hospital at the Montreal Neurologic Institute.  From 1993 to 2004 Dr. Fewer was the Program Director for the Neurosurgery Postgraduate Training Program.  Currently, Dr. Fewer is a member of the Active Staff of the Health Sciences Centre and Associate Professor of the Section of Neurosurgery, Department of Surgery, University of Manitoba.

Dr. Fewer is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada) and a Certificant of the American Board of Neurological Surgery, a Member of the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences, the Canadian Pain Society and the Society for Neuro-Oncology. 

Dr. Fewer’s clinical subspecialties are spinal neurosurgery, pituitary surgery, pain and spasticity neurosurgery, neuro-oncology and gamma knife.
