Empowering the future

The Biomedical Youth Program is an initiative of The Faculty of Medicine. Its mandate is to promote science outreach activities in the community, especially among the inner-city schools of Winnipeg. The focus is to help children consider careers in health professions and medical research by exposing them to science.

The components of the Biomedical Youth Program are:

  •  Science Buddies Club for Schools

  •  Biomedical Youth Summer Camp

  • Inner-city Science Centre

We have a range of resources to provide programs and hands on science activities such as:

  • Educational resources to meet the Manitoba curriculum requirements of Human and Plant Biology, Human Health and Genetics courses for K-12 and AP Biology
  • Summer science camps for elementary, middle and high school
  • Partnerships for Manitoba Scientists in the classroom grants
  • Research training modules and internships
  • Building community networks for Science After-School
  • Mentoring science projects

The Science Buddies Program is currently working along with the community to put on it's First Annual Bake Sale . The products for sale will be baked by the community and all proceeds support the Biomedical Youth Program.  The sale is being held at 727 Mcdermot Ave. Brodie Center 727 on November 25th 11am - 2pm.
