The Canadian National Medical Student Research Symposium (CNMSRS) is hosted by the University of Manitoba. Each year we are proud to host the brightest and best medical student researchers from all over Canada. This two and one-half day event promotes interaction between medical and basic science trainees engaged in discovery, translational, clinical and population health research among participants from all Canadian Medical Schools.
The first half of this year’s conference is focused on presentations by and to undergraduate medical students who are carrying out research themselves. The program includes cutting edge presentations by leading Canadian Clinician Scientist researchers, trainee research presentations in oral and poster discussion sessions,
and a professional development workshop entitled
'Career Options Utilizing my Research Skills–What if I don’t wish to be a Professor?’
There are 3 categories of presentations:
1) selected oral presentations
2) new trainee poster presentation (less than 1 year research experience)
3) experienced trainee poster presentation (more than 1 year research experience)
Trainee awards are presented for top presentations. This is followed by a one day Symposium involving ~500 research trainees of diverse backgrounds with six international leaders in research. A rich social program is included as part of the conference.
Prizes: There will be monetary prizes within each category of competition.
Special Event Bus: Special event buses are scheduled to depart from Brodie Centre for the CNMSRS Welcome Banquet at St. Charles Country Club on June 4th (see schedule) and the joint CNMSRS and CSHRF social event at Lower Fort Garry National Park
on June 5th
(see schedule for details).
We thank our sponsors for their generous support of this continuing initiative to enhance interactions amongst developing researchers of all disciplines
from across Canada.
Due to the commitment of our local and national sponsors, we are able to offer each medical school the opportunity to send up to five delegates. We cover the following costs for the symposium invitees; accommodation for June 4th and 5th, meals, academic and social programming, trainee oral and poster competition prizes.
CNMSRS is held in conjunction with the Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF), and provides an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate medical students to network. June 6th both CNMSRS and CSHRF participants are invited to attend.
