Important organizations

When you apply for admission to any of the University of Manitoba’s IMG programs, you will interact with:

1. University of Manitoba IMG Program
   • Is in the Faculty of Medicine and is a satellite office of the Dean’s Office
   • The IMG Program is responsible for recruitment, interviews, arranging assessments, IMG training, and orientation for IMGACL and MLPIMG, and for arranging the NRSAP.

2. University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine.
   • You will be interacting with other departments within the Faculty of Medicine for your assessment, training rotations, and orientation.

3. College of Physicians and Surgeons Manitoba (CPSM)
   • Is the statutory body responsible for maintaining standards of medical practice within Manitoba
   • Will determine eligibility for conditional licensure or registration necessary to undergo training or assessment
   • Will determine eligibility for full licensure for practicing physicians/specialists

4. Manitoba Health
   • Is a department of provincial government that funds and oversees the Manitoba health care system

5. Regional Health Authorities (RHA)
   • Each region in Manitoba has an RHA
   • RHAs are in charge of the operation and administration of health care for their region, among other things 
   • RHAs, health clinics, and hospitals are the employers of the physicians in Manitoba.

6. The Physician Resource Coordination Office (PRCO)
   • Is funded by the Manitoba provincial government
   • Coordinates the recruitment of physicians on behalf of Manitoba’s health employers.
