- All students in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba are required to complete an Adult Criminal Records Check (with vulnerable sector) and Child Abuse Registry Check prior to the first day of classes. All medical students are required to complete these annually.
- An Adult Criminal Records Check can be obtained from the Winnipeg Police Service, Public Safety Building, 151 Princess St., Winnipeg or from your local law enforcement agency.
- A Child Abuse Registry Check can be obtained from Child and Family Services, Child Protection, 201-114 Garry St., Winnipeg.
- Or you can complete these checks on-line by going to www.winnipeg.ca/police/RC/info_request.stm and www.gov.mb.ca/fs/childfam/child_abuse_registry_form.html#form
- These checks can take weeks to be completed and it is adviseable to complete them as soon as you are offered admission.
- If the checks are not ready before the first day of class, you should provide your receipt of payment to the Admissions Office to verify that the checks have been ordered. Once the checks are ready, please bring them to the Admissions Office.
- The Admissions Office will not keep the checks but will review them with you and then return the documents to you.
- The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba requires an Adult Criminal Records Check to be submitted to their office in mid-August.
- Failure to provide these documents to the Admissions Office, may result in you being pulled from all academic activities.
