Survey team reviews documentation sent in advance; (completion of accreditation documents by U of M faculty, students and staff required approximately 14 months of work)

Survey team conducts site visit to verify, clarify and update information compiled in the school's medical education self study/database provided in advance to the survey team

Sunday, April 3 – Team meets with the Dean and Associate Dean, UGME in a conference at the beginning of the site visit to discuss, accomplishments, goals and challenges

April 4 – 6 – Team views the learning environment, tours facilities and meets with administrators, faculty members, and students

Wednesday, April 6 – Exit meeting with the Dean and University President to summarize findings about program strengths and areas of noncompliance

Approximately the end of May, 2011, about 6 – 8 weeks following the survey, the Survey Secretary sends a draft, written report on the team’s findings to the Dean re: program strengths, items of partial or substantial noncompliance with the 131 accreditation standards, and any transition issues. Faculty of Medicine can comment on draft report re: errors or omissions.

October 2011 - The LCME and the CACMS Boards determines accreditation status for the medical education program and any requirements for follow-up reports or survey visits on the basis of the survey team’s written report and any related information.
