Awards
Students accepted into the Asper Exchange Program will be automatically considered for most awards, generally on the basis of their academic record and the strength of their initial application to the program. Please note that the majority of awards require enrolment in minimum 80% of a full academic courseload for the regular academic year to be eligible.

Canadian Credit Management Foundation Award

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: $1,500 per award; number of awards subject to total amount of funds available per year
Description: Awards for third year Asper students are based on academic record and application to the Asper Exchange Program

Concorde Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: Variable; approximately $1,500
Description: Awarded to 20 Asper undergraduate exchange srudents with the highest degree grade point average among all participants

Elizabeth Marr and Nick Slonosky International Exchange Bursary

Deadline: Mid fall; automatic consideration
Funding level: 1 award of $5,000 or 2 awards of $2,500
Description: Available to students who have never studied abroad and have verified financial need as assessed by Financial Aid and Awards

Economic Development Canada: International Business Scholarships

Application Form: Available in October each academic year, check their website for annual changes
Deadline: Early January each academic year
Funding level: $4,000

Description:
According to the EDC Website, there are 30 scholarships annually, 25 of which go to undergraduate university students interested in pursuing a career or furthering their studies in international business, with up to 5 additional scholarships for students enrolled in combined studies in business with sustainable management or environmental studies.

Hong Kong-Canada Business Association Exchange Scholarship

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: Approximately $2,500
Description: The Hong Kong-Canada Business Association has established an endowment fund to assist students in the Asper School who wish to achieve a working knowledge of international business relations in Hong Kong by experiencing the culture first hand. Students studying in Hong Kong or Mainland China will be considered.

International Centre Exchange Awards

Deadline: Late spring to early summer. The application form will be provided directly to Asper exchange students by the Asper Exchange Coordinator in line with current yearès deadlines.

Description:

  • Registered in any faculty of school at the University of Manitoba except University 1 and the Faculty of Graduate Studies;
  • Normally will have completed at least 30 credit hours of study at the University of Manitoba;
  • Have been accepted into the ICS Student Exchange Program or another exchange program approved by the selection committee;
  • Will be registered full-time at a host institution outside of Canada for the duration of their exchange in the academic session in which the award is tenable;
  • Have obtained, or will be obtaining, an approved Letter of Permission for the courses to be completed while on exchange to demonstrate that the courses will be credited toward their degree program;
  • Have demonstrated that they require financial assistance in order to participate in the ICS Student Exchange Program or approved exchange program.

John T. K. Lee International Study Scholarship

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: Variable; generally 1 award for approximately $2,000 or 2 awards for $1,000
Description: Awards are disbursed based on a combination of academic record and application to the Asper Exchange Program

Manitoba Student Aid

Description: Based on the nature of the bilateral exchange agreements, all students can apply for financial support through Manitoba Student Aid. For further details, please see their Website.

Robin Charles Ringland Memorial Scholarship

Application Form: Application forms are sent out by the Exchange Coordinator each year to students who have completed their exchange.
Deadline: Late summer
Funding Level: Approximately $2,000
Description:  The family and friends of Robin Charles Ringland have offered to provide an endowment to fund an annual scholarship to a student who had completed at least two years of study at the Asper School of Business at the undergraduate level. Selection of the recipient is based on the academic merit and with a particular reference to international business at a university outside of Canada.

Rod MacKenzie International Student Exchange Program Travel Award

Deadline: Late spring; automatic consideration. A recipient will be determine by the Andison Family Foundation each summer.
Funding Level: Approximately $1,000
Description:  The Rod MacKenzie International Student Exchange Program Travel Award has been established in memory of Roderick Andrew MacKenzie, who was a student in the Asper School of Business when he suddenly passed away shortly before his graduation in 2002. During his program of studies, Rod MacKenzie’s international travel experience added immensely to his learning and personal development. His family and friends wish to sponsor an award that encourages business students to engage in learning experiences beyond the classroom, particularly those of an international nature.

Simatelex Study Program

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: Variable; up to 10 awards for Asper undergraduate and MBA exchange students from $2,000-$5,000
Description: Minimum3.75 GPA; based on community and leadership involvement, international orientation; some preference given to international business majors

Terry Hogan International Exchange Scholarship

Deadline: Late summer; automatic consideration
Funding level: Approximately $800
Description: Awarded to third year student with highest GPA

University of Manitoba Business School Foundation Award
