A: The BComm dinner is a great way to kick-start your BComm journey and meet Asper faculty and your fellow classmates before school begins.
A: Business attire looks classy and professional. Suits are suitable for both men and women. For a more casual business-appropriate look, wear dress pants, wear a dress shirt tucked in and buttoned.
For footwear, men should wear clean, polished shoes, and women should wear shoes with a low heel. For a business-casual look, women may wear flats. Sandals are never appropriate.
A: Don't stress if you are not familiar with the appropriate etiquette for events like this. You'll have plenty of opportunities to perfect your business etiquette during your time here at the Asper School of Business. In the meanwhile, here are a few tips:
A: The Fairmont is located at 2 Lombard Place, just off the corner of Main Street and Portage Avenue.
A: The most convenient place to park is the Richardson Parkade. You can enter the parkade from Lombard Place (just past the Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel, on your right-hand side). A sign will direct you. The price is $7.00 for two hours.
Less expensive alternatives include several outdoor parking lots along Lombard Place, and metered parking along the street. Be warned: these parking spots fill up quickly during the day.
A: No. This is an exclusive event strictly for new students entering the Asper School of Business.
A: Please indicate any mobility or dietary restrictions on the event registration page at UMConnect.
A: Yes! You may make some new business connections.
A: The speaking program begins at 5:30pm. Dinner will be served just before 6pm. The entire event should finish by 7:30pm at the latest.
A: When you arrive at the Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel (prior to 5:15pm), stop at the registration table on the main floor to find out where to sit, then make your way to the banquet hall on the second floor. An escalator near the entrance will take you directly to the hall. A group of Asper students will greet and direct you when you arrive.
A: Email us at email@example.com.
A: Last year the event was a BComm Luncheon generously supported by the Associates of the Asper School of Business. The Associates actively participate in the Asper School of Business supporting programs such as the mentoring, coaching, lecturing programs, as well, connecting you with employers to help you further your career opportunities prior to graduation.
