Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Hershcovis joined the Asper School of Business in 2006, after receiving her PhD from Queen's University. She is broadly interested in employee well-being, with specific interests in the psychology of workplace aggression and sexual harassment. Her research investigates: (1) how the nature of the relationship between perpetrators and victims influences victim responses to workplace aggression; (2) how observers of workplace aggression react; and (3) the nature of victim attributions for different forms of workplace mistreatment.

STUDENT SUPERVISION

I am currently accepting Honours, MSc and PhD students.

Ideal candidates for an MSc will have an undergraduate degree in either commerce, industrial and organizational psychology, or social psychology. Ideal candidates for a PhD will have a research-based Master's degree in either business (with an OB major), industrial and organizational psychology, or social psychology. Applicants must be interested in the topic area of workplace aggression (including bullying, incivility, social undermining, abusive supervision) or sexual harassment. Ideal candidates for an undergraduate honours project are those students with an interest in applied social psychology. Students must have a direct interest in the area of workplace aggression (incivility, abusive supervision, etc.) and a foundation in social psychological theories (e.g., attribution theory, social identity theory, etc.). Ideally students will have a GPA of 3.75/4.5 or higher in the last 60 credit-hours of their course work, and will be interested in pursuing a Master's in the same area as their Honour's project.
