Dean Gray began his academic career at the University of Manitoba in 1970. Prior to that, he taught at the Glacier Institute of Management in London, England, and at the University of South Carolina where he received his Ph.D. Dr. Gray was appointed Head of the Department of Business Administration in 1974 and subsequently was appointed Associate Dean of the School in 1982 where he served until he was appointed Dean in 1996. In 1978-80, he was Visiting Professor of Management at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Gray's academic interests are in the general areas of organizational behaviour and organizational theory. His specific teaching and research interests are in requisite organization, leadership, motivation, and group dynamics. He has published several articles and four books on diverse topics such as supervision, organizational behaviour, and The Glacier Project.

Dr. Gray also has an active consulting practice where he specializes in strategic planning, customer service development, incentive system design, and management training. He serves as a facilitator for strategic planning sessions and is a popular speaker at conferences in Canada and the United States.

Dr. Jerry Gray retired from full-time teaching in 2005.
