Areas of Research Interest: Theory and application of Management Science/Operations Research. The area of interest covers mathematical programming, application of fuzzy systems, possibility theory, and time series models in both deterministic and fuzzy setup, GARCH modeling, inventory models, decision analysis, multi-criteria decision making, scoring models, AHP, supplier selection and TOPSIS model and their application to supply chain management.
Dr. Appadoo is an assistant professor of Management Science in the Department of Supply Chain Management at the University of Manitoba. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses for the department of supply chain management. Dr. Appadoo has over forty articles published in international journals and proceedings. His publications have appeared in journals such as Fuzzy Optimization and Decision Making, Journal of Applied Mathematics and Decision Sciences, ICBF Journal of Applied Finance, Journal of Risk Finance, Mathematical and Computer Modeling, Computers & Mathematics with Applications, Applied Mathematics Letters, Statistics & Probability Letters, The Mathematical Scientist, Journal of Statistical Theory and Applications, Journal of Statistics and Applications, Journal of Interdisciplinary Mathematics, International Journal of Applied Industrial Engineering and Advances in Fuzzy Sets and Systems. Three of his research papers appear on TOP25 Hottest Articles on Science Direct. Since 2004 he has collaborated with 16 researchers from all over the world working in a variety of disciplines. Dr. Appadoo holds an NSERC Discovery Grant of $100,000, for the period 2010-2015 for his research. He has guided Master’s theses and serves on several MSc and Ph.D. committees. Dr. Appadoo served as divisional chair, management science division, Administrative Sciences Association of Canada conference and is a committee member of the Graduate Research Programs Committee for the faculty of management. Dr. Appadoo is on the program committee for the Fourth International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Computing in Finance (Mathematical & Computational Finance) , 2011.
Dr. Appadoo received honorable mention award at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada Conference in 2007 and the recipient of the best paper award at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada Conference 2005. Dr. Appadoo is the recipient of the 2008 Associates' Achievement Award in the joint category of research and teaching. He is also the recipient of the 2010 CMA Canada Merit Award. These awards are given annually to faculty members who demonstrate particularly high achievement in the combined areas of teaching and research over a four-year period.
He has been a reviewer for ASAC, IFSAM, IASTED and international journals such as for Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Transaction of Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Computers and Mathematics with Applications, European Journal of Operational Research, Information Sciences, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, Mathematical and Computer Modeling and Iranian Journal of Fuzzy Systems. He is on the editorial review board for International Journal of Applied Industrial Engineering (IJAIE) and is also an Editorial Board Member (EBM) for the journal of An International Journal of Business Research and Management (IJBRM).
