Not-for-profit financial concept.

Why this program?

You will gain an understanding of how to interpret financial information and learn the tools you need for making informed not-for-profit financial decisions.

It is important that participants prepare for this program by reviewing briefly your organization’s most recent annual report. Participants should bring to class an example of a recent operating decision where financial considerations played a role. This could include the decision to acquire resources (ie. hire more people, purchase equipment) or any other decision where finances were considered.

Through this program, you will:

  • Understand how to review NFP balance sheets and income statements
  • Learn how your budgeting process impacts the organization's strategy and culture
  • Understand how financial decisions are made for acquiring additional resources, such as expanding headcount and buying equipment
  • Know the types of information that NFP board members need and how best to present it to them
