The Marketing Department at the Asper School of Business is an intimate, collegial, research-focused department. Our small size fosters an active and collaborative research environment and gives us a competitive advantage in being able to offer innovative courses and programming at the undergraduate and graduate level. Our research and teaching areas of strength are consumer behaviour, international marketing, branding, social marketing, marketing strategy and modelling.
Our faculty are an engaging group of scholars who are mindful of our role in disseminating knowledge in both traditional and non-traditional ways. Our work has been featured on the radio, on television and in the news media, and published in leading journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes – to name just a few. Our award-winning researchers have been recognized locally, nationally, and internationally. We have also been successful in receiving funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
Our department has numerous resources available for research, including a behavioural lab, a research participation program, and a guest speaker series that brings in world-renowned researchers from around the globe.
Our graduate students have been very successful. We have MSc students who take our research-intensive program and go on to doctoral work in universities such as the University of British Columbia and Hawaii. Our PhD students have taken jobs all over the globe and are currently working at universities such as City University of Hong Kong, Monash University (Australia), University of Alberta, University of Calgary, University of Saskatchewan and Bryant University (Rhode Island).
