Denise 

Denise, B.Kin, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist

About: Almost 20 years of experience holding such titles as Fitness Trainer, Exercise Therapist, Conditioning Therapist, Activiation Therapist, Kinesiologist and Clinical Trials and Reseach Assistant.

Personal Note: Faith and family are very important to Denise. She has 3 beautiful children with her husband. She was an overweight child and changed her life during her adolescent and teen years by becoming physically active and adopting healthier eatin habits which set the course for her future education and career.


Sarah 

Sarah, B.Kin, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist, EIMC Level 2

About: Sarah has a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Manitoba. She recently completed fieldwork placement where she gained practical experience working with chronic disease populations and medical rehabilitation.

Motto/Philosphy: You will never know your limits until you push them yourself!


Jim 

Jim, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Jim has a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Manitoba. He has fieldwork experience working with the Canadian Sport Centre in diving and curling. Jim's speciality includes stablity and lower body strength/power training.

Motto/Philosphy: Always exercise with a purpose. Create achievable goals to gain motivation then challenge yourself as you progress.



 

Penny, Diploma in Recreation, AFLCA Certified Fitness Trainer, NCCP, FMS

About: I have been in the fitness/sport and recreation industry for over twenty years, and though certified in many facets of fitness, I teach a lot of CORE/Balance conditioning, cardio/cross training and strength programs. I work with children, youth, adults and seniors and design programs to meet their individual needs.

Motto/Philosphy: TRAIN, SHINE, STAY FOCUSED!

Andrea, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Andrea has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and BA in Psychology and Anthropology. She has 1 year of personal training experience and over 5 years of training experience for half marathons. She is a group training leader for running programs, SMART goal setting and resistance training.  Andrea is based out of the Joe Doupe Recreation Centre at our Bannatyne campus location.

Motto/Philosphy: "Never judge a run by the first mile", and her all time favorite "are you ready to have some fun?"



 

Carlyn, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Carlyn has a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Winnipeg. She has experience in personal training and working with individuals who need adaptations for exercise. She has found through her own training and experience, that proper form is key to safe and effective exercise.

Motto/Philosphy: You can do anything in life, you just have to put your mind to it!


Michel 

Michel, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Michel has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and is also a certified Paramedic.  He has a four years of experience one-on-one and group training focusing on power development, weight loss and strength.  Previous experiences also include research with the Faculty of Kinesiology and the Richardson Center for Functional Foods and Neutraceuticals.  Since 2013, he has also been involved in occupational testing of front line personelle (Fire, Polic, EMS and Canadian Border Services) here at the University. 

Motto/Philosphy: Treament is simply failed prevention.

Daniel, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist

About: Daniel has a Bachelor of Kinesiology form the University of Manitoba.  He has been working in the field of occupational testing and personal training since 2012.  He has worked with a wide variety of clients of different ages with goals such as weight loss, peformance improvement for sport or occupational needs and improvement/maintenance of general wellness and function.

Motto/Philosphy: Never be satisfied with where you are; there is always room for improvement.


Leighton 

Leighton, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Leighton has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and over two and a half years of personal training experience.

Motto/Philosphy: Don't just practice what you preach, justify your reasoning.


Ben 

Ben, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Ben has a Bachelor of Kinesiology, is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and a NCCP Weightlifting Coach. Ben has experience in Olympic Weightlifting, CrossFit and functional movements.

Darren, B.Kin, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Darren has worked with a variety of populations, including individuals living with chronic disease. Darren has experience training for weight loss, strength as well as for rehabilitation.

Meaghan, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist

About: Meaghan has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Masters in Science. She has two years of experience working with people who have chronic disease, specifically type 1 diabetes and youth at risk of type 2 diabetes.

Amy 

Amy, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer & Exercise Physiologist

About: Amy has a Bachelor of Kinesiology from the Univesrity of Manitoba.  She works with a variety of populations from chronic disease patients to elite level athletes. Focusing on functional movement/corrective exercises and improving mobility and ease with ADL. She believes in focusing on and solidifying basic human movement patters as essential to moving well, pain-free and functionality.

Motto/Philosphy: We are what we do repeatedly. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.


Ceejay

CeeJay, B.SC Kin - Athletic Therapy, CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer

About: Ceejay has experience working with a vareity of clients including entry level and junior varsity athletes, rehabilitation and sports specific training.

Motto/Philosphy: Every day is a new day to make a mark. Make it count!


Adam 

Adam, CSEP-Certified Exercise Physiologist

About: Master of Science specializing in Sport Mechanics, NSCA-CSCS, Olympic Weightlifting Level 1, FMS Level 2. Adam has 8 years of sport specific training experience including Olympic and National team athletes. Adam also has experience in occupational training and testing and functional movement screening.

Motto/Philosphy: When things don't happen right away, just remember: it takes 6 months to build a Rolls Royce and 13 hours to build a Toyota.

Antoni, CSEP-Certifed Personal Trainer

About: Antoni has his Bachelor of Kinesiology and has been working in the fitness industry for four years. He started personal training and group training in March of 2016.  Antoni recently completed a fieldwork placement with the Bison Varsity Sports program where he assisted in training, preparing and coaching of athletes.
