The University of Manitoba and Bison Recreation Services is pleased to invite you and your colleagues to join in the 23nd annual Sneakers In motion Day on Thursday June 7th.2012. Special guests include Max Poulin and Goldie from your Winnipeg Goldeyes!

This initiative is devoted to promoting vibrant, healthy living and quality of life. It’s an opportunity for the University of Manitoba to show just how important physical activity is to employee wellness and is the kick off to Summer Active. Proceeds for this event will be donated to Osborne House.

Osborne House Inc is one of the oldest and largest shelters in the world for women and children escaping domestic violence.  Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Osborne House Inc serves women and children throughout Manitoba as some of our clients are brought in from communities outside of Winnipeg.  The shelter can accommodate 45 women and children and is oftentimes at that capacity.  Besides being a safe place for women and children to go to, we have a 24 hour crisis line that people (women and men) are free to call to discuss their situation with domestic abuse, a safety plan, etc with one of our counsellors.  In shelter, we provide counselling services to women and children.  We also have an on-site tutoring program for school aged children. 

In 2011, Osborne House Inc provided services to approximately 9,000 women and children.

The event begins with an enthusiastic group warm up, followed by a walk around the Bannatyne Campus and special activities in the Brodie Center Atrium!  After the walk, lunch is served and door prizes are awarded.

Lunch and 50/25/25 Tickets can be purchased at the Joe Doupe Centre and University of Manitoba Bannatyne book store and through our Event Champions located throughout the community.

Please help support Osborne House residents who are working hard to embrace healthy active living! Please donate your gently used running shoes (all ages, all sizes accepted).
