Climbing Club

This non-instructional club provides participants the opportunity to share their passion for climbing with others. Climbing Club times are open to Climbing Club members only and supervision is provided by volunteer wall leaders from the Climbing Club. Day passes cannot be purchased to access the wall. All Climbing Club members must hold a minimum 4 month Bison Recreation Services Membership and request to be added to the club roster at the Customer Service Desk.
Individuals (18+ ) wanting to top rope (climb using the ropes) must complete one of the following skill competencies:
- Take or have taken and successfully passed a Climbing Fundamental Course ($25)
- or -
- Successfully pass a Belay test administered by a wall leader ($5)
Once one of the above requirements have been met then a University of Manitoba Climbing Certification card will be issued and can be picked up at the Customer Service Desk in the Frank Kennedy Centre one week following the successfull completion of the above requirements. This card must be shown to the wall leader each time the individual wishes to top rope.
Those wishing only to boulder (climbing without ropes on a more horizontal plane) do not need to have a UofM CC card but must have a 4 month Bison Recreation Services Membership.
All Climbing Club members must request to be added to the Climbing Club roster which is free by requesting to do so at the Customer Service Desk in the Frank Kennedy Centre.
