Education/Certifications/Awards: Bachelor of Physical Education – University of Manitoba 2008, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, Emergency First Aide and CPR Level C, Mini U Leader of the Year 2005, U of M Bison Track and Field Captain 2007-2009.

Experience with Children:
Drew began his career working with children at the University of Manitoba with the Mini U Programs in 2005. Starting out as a Leader for two summer, Drew progressed over the years accepting aditionaly levels of responsitbily with the programs. From the ground up, Drew started as a Physical Education Leader (two years), summer Supervisor (4 years) and currently one of the Program Coordinators (since 2010).

Over the years, Drew has influenced many aspects of the Mini U Programs with his high level of creativity and passion for the programs. Serving in many roles, he has successfully lead early year movement, sport, special interest and school based programing at the Unviersity.

While obtaining his Bachelor of Physical Education Degree at the University of Manitoba, Drew lead programs such as the Junior Bison Track and Field, Music and Early Year Movement and physical education activities for children who are home schooled.

His abilty to build successful relationships with Facutly, staff & community partners has led him to develop programming for Indigenous youth held at both University campuses. Recently, Drew has also successfully introduced programs such as Leadership Discovery, Junior Leaders and Senior Leaders in Training which have lead to an increase in volunteers working with the programs today.
Moving forward Drew envisions creating more off-campus programs for children and youth from the Inner Winnipeg area of the city.

How I Can Help You:
As the Leadership and Community Programs Coordinator, Drew works closely with:

  • Program Supervisors for the Leadership and Community Programs (School Programs, Indigenous Mini U, Mini U Joe Doupe Program (Bannatyne Campus and Leadership Programs) regarding program development (content, lessons, learning outcomes, ages, etc), the supervision of program participants, and the management of staff.
  • Fall, Winter and Spring Swim/Gym program and One Day School Visits
  • Subsidies from the Winnipeg School Division and Robert Kennedy.
  • The summer Busing and Lunch Bunch services.
  • The campus’ Marketing Communications Office (brochures, website and advertisements)
