Position: Student Leaders

Education: Leaders are students currently completing their bachelor degrees in a variety of Facilities and in some cases graduating High School. We welcome students from all Universities.
Experience & General Role:
Our student Leaders are selected for their leadership skills, maturity, passion for working with children, commitment and experience with physical activity, and previous experience working with children. They frequently join our programs with experience: playing/coaching sport, competing as a University athlete, completing credit hours within Faculties with our Special Interest programs, working in daycares, babysitting and experience with children with special needs.
Each year they are trained by the Director, Academic Staff, Program Coordinators and Student Supervisors during a 7-day orientation in areas such as: leadership development, pedagogy (teaching), positive group management, customer service, emergency response, diversity, inclusion, and special needs, lesson plan development, aboriginal games and camp activities.
Leaders provide direct supervision and leadership for program participants. Many also are hired before programs begin to create lesson plans in collaboration with student Supervisors and Program Coordinators. They are there to ensure each child’s experience is positive, fun and interactive. They promote leadership, fair play, diversity, inclusive activities as well as active and healthy lifestyles to all children.
Favorite Camp Activities: Swimming, wall climbing, dodgeball and pinguard to name a few.
Favorite Sports: Ultimate, hockey, soccer and so much more.
