Education/Certifications/Awards: Bachelor of Recreation Management and Community Development – University of Manitoba, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, NCCP Level 1 for both Track & Field and Basketball.

Experience with Children: Luc brings 10 years of experience working with children and youth of all ages. Luc began his career at the University of Manitoba as a student in the Faculty of Science and shortly thereafter became a Leader for Mini U Programs.  His love for the programs lead him to switch both his educational and career paths as he became a strong member of the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management’s Active Living team. Within the Mini U Programs, Luc thrived in various positions with increasingly levels responsibility. In his six years as a Program Supervisor, Luc has contributed in several capacities (Special Interest, Sports, Leadership and Community programming areas) and worked closely with Program Coordinators in the creation and implementation of leadership development learning outcomes, new programming and events, the redesigning of employee training strategies and restructuring of the summer programs.  Luc also has worked with Recreation Services for three years as an Intramural Supervisor at the University of Manitoba.

Along with his experience at the university, Luc has volunteered as a track and field coach at Oak Park High School.  He continued there for the next five years getting his National Coaching Certification as well as attending various other coaching clinics held by national and university level coaches. Moving forward Luc looks to promote physical activity to children and their families and to help them see not only the physical but mental health benefits from leading an active lifestyle.

How I Can Help You:

As the Sport Program Coordinator, Luc works closely with:

  • Supervisor staff regarding program delivery (content, lessons, learning outcomes, ages etc.) and the supervision of program participants and the management of staff.
  • Leader Staff regarding program delivery, customer service, safety and leadership of children.
  • Customers regarding program details and services.
  • University staff regarding space allocation, equipment rentals, the safety and security of participants, staff recruitment and retention.
  • Members of the Community and Provincial Sport Organizations regarding program development, lesson planning, staff hiring and best practices.
