In a recreational environment, participants will develop their shooting, passing, dribbling, serving, and rallying skills while building agility and endurance. Instruction will focus on the fundamentals of badminton and basketball and incorporate the opportunity to learn new organizational and team-building skills. All equipment will be provided but you may also bring your own.

Coached by experienced football players, this camp covers the basic skills, movements and game elements of football without the physical contact.  Along with some behind the scenes access on the home turf of the Manitoba Bisons, Princess Auto Stadium, you will hone your skills in running, throwing and catching through drills and scrimmages all week.

Join us for a week filled with fun games and activities all played under our black lights! Games will include things like dodgeball, 9 square in the air, tchoukball and Omnikin paired with fun team challenges and activities.

Participants will tackle a 1500 square foot climbing wall in the Active Living Centre for one hour per day and spend one hour per day on our bouldering wall which features our new kilter board.  Learn safety procedures, knot tying techniques, bouldering and climbing communication in a fun and safe indoor environment.

Kids in the Kitchen program details

Learn to become a leader in the kitchen! Better understand kitchen safety, techniques for proper food handling, how to follow a recipe and more! Transform healthy ingredients into delicious snacks, baked goods and savoury meals. Participants will be assembling a recipe book that can be taken home at the end of the week. Our menu for the week will be set prior to your first day of camp. All recipes prepared will be nut-free. Please visit our website for our full menu and a list of ingredients that will be used. Families must inform us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions a minimum of 10 days prior to your first day in the kitchen. We may not be able to accommodate all requests.

If you have a passion for the great outdoors then this camp is for you! Spend the week visiting various green spaces at Kings Park and on-campus. Learn about the Leave No Trace Principles, tent building, Manitoba wildlife and vegetation and wilderness survival all while learning leadership skills involving teamwork, communication and responsibility.

Bisons Learn to Skate II program details

This program is ideal for beginner hockey players, ringette players and recreational ice skaters. Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of skating: forward skating, stopping, starting, turning and backwards skating. Learn to Skate combines movement-oriented activities and games to encourage fun through learning.

Children must be able to stand independently on the ice without assistance. CSA-approved helmets are required. Full facemasks, thick gloves and pants are strongly recommended.

Mini Bisons Basketball II Program Details

Designed by our Bisons head coaches, the Mini Basketball program allows children to play the game in a focused environment suited to the development of their physical, mental and basketball skills by instituting long-term athlete development (LTAD) modifications to the adult game. With high repetitions and touches, it is player-oriented with the emphasis is on skill development in combination with the teaching and loading of actions.

This program uses a holistic approach towards player development  and integrates the pillars of soccer including technical, tactical, physical and psycho-social components.

The Junior Bisons Soccer Academy will be overseen by the Bisons women’s soccer varsity coaches Vanessa Martinez Lagunas (UEFA Pro License) and William Rosales (CSA A License Candidate). Current and former Bisons athletes and assistant coaches will also be involved in leading training sessions.

Mini Bisons Volleyball II Program Details

Mini Bisons Volleyball is an approach of initiating people to the game of volleyball. The traditional game is adapted to the specific needs and abilities of the participants. These adaptations include varying the number of players, altering the court size, adjusting the height of the net and using bigger and lighter balls. The objective of these adaptations is to encourage learning, promote success and increase the enjoyment for the participants. When the game is properly adapted for the age and abilities of the participants, they experience more success and enjoy the activity.
