Mission Statement

Children's Programs:

1. Develops educated leaders in children/youth physical activity
2. Provides excellent and inclusive recreation/sport and educational experiences to young people
3. Promotes the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management and the University of Manitoba as destinations for post secondary education
4. Contributes to the creation and dissemination of physical activity knowledge.

To be recognized locally and nationally as a leader in providing evidence-based programs while actively collaborating in the creation and dissemination of physical activity knowledge. Children's Programs develops excellent, innovative leaders and provides stimulating, quality programs for children /youth that reflect the values of inclusiveness, fair play and healthy development.

FACILITY CLOSURES

The University of Manitoba (and all recreation facilities) will be closed on the following dates in 2011-12: August 1 & 2, September 4 & 5, October 10, November 11, December 23 2011-January 2, 2012, February 20, 2012.

The Christmas Break will see the Fort Garry Campus closed Friday, December 23, 2011 through Monday, January 2, 2012

FACILITY RENTALS

Most of our recreation facilities may be rented for group and private use. Please contact the Scheduling Coordinator at (204) 474-6495 to inquire about rental opportunities, policies, and rates.

PARKING & BUS INFORMATION

Parking information Fort Garry Campus:

  • Parking is free after 4:30pm and on weekends and holidays except where designated as "24 hour reserved", Handicap accessible, in the parkade, & and any other restricted area. See the map for parking lot locations.
  • Parking meters are $1.00 per hour; ticket dispenser lots are $2.00 for two hours, except “SD” lot, which is $4.00 for the entire day.
  • The University parkade (Parkade on map) has 500 spots devoted to casual day use, is connected to the underground walkway & has a pay station system where cash or credit cards can be used. Daily rate from 6:30am-4:30pm: $1.00 per ½ hour for the first 2 hours (or portion thereof); $1.00 every hour after 2 hours (or portion thereof); daily maximum (up to 4:30pm) $10.00; evening rate (after 4:30pm) $2.00. Lost ticket rate: $12.00. Parking rates subject to change without notice.

Bus information Fort Garry Campus:

  • Winnipeg Transit buses 60, 62, 75, & 78 stop outside Frank Kennedy Centre & travel to and from the University on a regular basis.
