The University of Manitoba and Bison Sports have found the means to fund the entire Bison Athlete Walkway of Honour project through alternate funding sources. We are thrilled to now have the opportunity to honour all Bison alumni from approximately 1946 to present on the Walkway.
The completion of the Bison Athlete Walkway of Honour is scheduled for July 31, 2012 in preparation for the opening of the new football stadium and alumni reunion festivals. The 7 ft. display towers will be located in the Plaza area in front of the Investors Group Athletic Center. This will be a first of a kind recognition of all former athletes on any campus in North America. With 2.6 million visitors each year to the campus it will be a spectacle to see as well as an acknowledgement of the many alumni who have contributed to the University in so many different ways. There will be a formal press conference announcing the details and introducing the partners of this project within the next few weeks.
