Vision Statement

Faculty of Human Ecology

We believe in delivering outstanding research and education that promotes optimum health and quality of life. Our goal is to contribute to the public policy debate by being a leading provider both of scientifically-based food, health and social policy information that improves the health and well-being of people, and of professionals who can generate and apply this information.

The 1st Annual Young Leader’s Lunch was held March 2, 2011 to honour a small selection of students at a luncheon. The deans of each faculty were asked to select 4-8 students from their faculty that showed great leadership academically, as well as a commitment to the community or faculty through volunteerism, etc…
Tammi Feltham, shown here with Textile Sciences student, Hannah Sangalang, attended the lunch in place of the Dean. Hannah was one of 8 students from Human Ecology that were nominated by the faculty.
They were joined by members of the Alumni Association board of directors, and members of the University of Manitoba Board of Governors.  David Tang, recent graduate from Science, was the keynote speaker. He talked about leadership and what is next after they graduate.  Chancellor Harvey Secter also spoke at the lunch. Karen Holden (Human Ecology grad) served as the emcee as our current president Evan Kuz was unable to attend.
