Moni Fricke, BMR (PT), MSc, PhD

Dr. Moni Fricke is an assistant professor in the department of physical therapy at the College of Rehabilitation Sciences, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba.

Dr. Fricke joined the department in 1999 as a part-time instructor and became a full-time faculty member in August 2019, when she also assumed the role of Director of the Office of Interprofessional Collaboration.

Her interests center around the intersection of interprofessional collaboration and social accountability at the macro, meso, and micro levels, which forms the foundation of her professional, teaching, and research career.

Dr. Fricke has more than 25 publications including refereed journal articles, conference proceedings, and reports.

Additionally, she has provided more than 67 national and international presentations, 12 of which were as an invited speaker.

She has been actively involved in professional and community committees both locally and nationally, including the Board of Assessors of the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators, the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba, the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and the Admissions and Selections Committees of the Department of Physical Therapy, where she served as Chair from 1999-2016.

Dr. Fricke is also an active reviewer for several different journals, professional conferences, and granting agencies.

She has recently been involved in multiple collaborative research teams that focus on the impact of interprofessional education on collaborative patient-centered care; access to interprofessional health services by refugees and newcomers to Canada; and social justice and health equity in the teaching and learning environment.

Master's degree in Community Health Sciences, University of Manitoba (1998)

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Community Health Sciences, University of Manitoba (2016) The focus of her postgraduate studies was Indigenous health, specifically First Nations' access to rehabilitation services and the valid measurement of disability experienced by First Nations living in remote communities.
