Section of Pediatric Surgery
This section comprises seven full-time surgeons with subspecialty training in Pediatric Surgery. One of our surgeons is a Clinician Scientist with a 75% time commitment to research and is the Thorlakson Chair of Surgical Research in the Department of Surgery.  Another surgeon is a Pediatric Intensivist in addition to providing Pediatric Surgical Services.

Providing general surgical services for neonates, infants, and children up to and including 16 years of age, we are the referral centre for Manitoba, Nunavut, and Northwestern Ontario. While we are based primarily at Children’s Hospital of Winnipeg, we also provide Pediatric General Surgical Services to St. Boniface Hospital.

Our expertise is broad and includes surgical procedures for congenital neonatal anomalies and conditions, elective and emergent thoracic and abdominal conditions, trauma, head and neck anomalies/lesions, including thyroid diseases, airway and gastrointestinal endoscopy and soft tissue anomalies and lesions. Minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgical procedures are performed in addition to traditional open surgical approaches.

The surgeon on call can be reached 24 hours a day by calling paging at 204-787-2071.
